21 Dec INORDE ORGANIZES A DAY ABOUT THE USE OF FERTILIZERS AND MANAGEMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXPLOITATION WITHIN THE ACTIVITIES OF THE PROJECT LIFE REGENERA LIMIA IN THE AGRICULTURAL-LIVESTOCK CENTRE IN XINZO DE LIMIA
With the catchword “Debug to recover”, INORDE’s Center for Agrarian Development in Xinzo de Limia, hosted the Conference on USE OF FERTILIZERS AND MANAGEMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXPLOITATION, part of the Life Regenera Limia Project
Two facts highlight the importance of the involvement of Xinzo in this project. On the one hand we are facing a region with a marked agricultural character; in addition emphasizes the importance of the new generations, guaranteed with an outstanding generational relief.
Faced with a significant influx of attendees, Xinzo Mayor, Antonio Pérez highlighted the role of INORDE’s Agrarian Center and the work of its staff for the development of the Shire. For this reason he opted for the collaboration between all the entities for the development of the Regenera Limia Project, whose main objective is to reconcile agrarian and livestock activity with the good condition of the water bodies. INORDE president Rosendo Fernández highlighted that with Regenera Life Regenera Limia, INORDE provides the project with its laboratory of analysis (laboratory accredited by the National Entity of Accreditation) so that, following its usual line of work, serve as a reference when it comes to knowing the nutritional reality of the soil of Limia and from there will be established a program of self-control by the farmers themselves when it comes to perform the necessary operations of subscribing crops, aimed at achieving productions profitable and without thereby being impaired or the natural balance of the environment.
Francisco Marín, head of the Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation, leader of the project, highlighted the excellent collaboration of the different beneficiary partners in the project, emphasizing that the objective of this day is the training, sensitization and dissemination to the agricultural group intrinsically involved in with the use of agricultural waste management and the fertilization of land, one of the main factors related to the environmental problem of the water bodies in the Region.
Alberto de Anta, Head of Environmental Management Area of the Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation, and coordinator of the project, explained the start and progress of each of the project’s actions and the forecast of action for next year. Namely, the Life Regenera Limia project includes 26 measures grouped into four main action blocks, among which the development of alternative solutions for the management of livestock waste aimed at reducing its impact on the environment through intensive artificial wetlands of macrophytes. With the implementation of these actions, it is expected that once the project is completed, not only the concentration of nutrients, but also 30% of the use of fertilizers, 50% of fertilizers and 40 % less greenhouse gases.
Throughout the Conference, important topics such as the PAC Conditionality Measures and Green Payments were discussed by José Julián Bermello, Head of the FOGGA service in Ourense, who raised a lot of interest in commenting on case studies on non-compliances and the applicable regulations. For its part, Xisela Fernández spoke about the main parameters for ecological management of agricultural holdings. Jesús Expido, Dr. Ing. Agronomist and professor at USC, issued an address to good agricultural practices in mechanization of crops, carbon footprint reduction and conservation agriculture, . He also presented the results of a practical study carried out in the test farm of the Center of Agrarian Development of the Inorde on the influence of the work of tillage and mechanization in the reduction of costs.
To conclude the day, the technical director of the Center, Servando Álvarez, advanced on the operation of the Application of the Integrated System of subscriber management, data obtained and its annual comparison, as well as rationalization of crop fertilization. After a participatory debate of the attendees, the day ended at 2:00 p.m.
