Horizontal principles

Sustainable development

The conservation and improvement of the environment and sustainable development constitute the main reason for the Life Regenera Limia project whose objective is to demonstrate the viability and efficiency of an innovative approach, integrating preventive measures and regeneration of a highly modified river system in a region – to Limia – with a high concentration of livestock.

This contributes to meeting the environmental objectives of Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2000 establishing a Community framework for action in the field of water policy, which is born with the vocation of protecting the resource and promoting its sustainable use to ensure its availability in the long term.

Equality between women and men

Although there are no specific actions to promote equality between men and women due to the subject matter of the project, it is worth mentioning that the project will ensure equal opportunities and, therefore, non-discrimination due to disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc., in the hiring processes carried out throughout the execution period.

With regard to the communication strategy, the observance and implementation of the principle of equality will be ensured through the adoption of a gender approach in the communication strategy. This horizontal framework establishes measures to favour the generation of knowledge, develop and adapt statistics and research, promote training and awareness-raising, thus achieving the effective integration of the principle of equality.

Equal opportunities and non-discrimination

A code of ethics is applied by the partners in line with the cross-cutting principles of the European Structural and Investment Funds. According to the Common Provisions Regulation, Member States and the Commission shall ensure that gender equality and gender mainstreaming are taken into account and promoted throughout the preparation and implementation of programmes, including monitoring, reporting and evaluation.

For this reason, as specified in the previous paragraph, the procedures for recruiting staff that could be carried out by the project partners as well as by external services and experts will at all times respect equality between men and women, guaranteeing total impartiality in the matter.
