The project “Life Regenera Limia” will use a set of innovative techniques to reduce the presence of nutrients, mainly of agricultural origin, in the water masses of the Region of A Limia (Ourense)

The total cost of the project is 1.7 million euros, subsidized by the EU in 50%

The Council of Ministers today ratified the provisional authorization for the signing of the Partnership Agreement between the Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation, the Xunta de Galicia, the Provincial Council of Ourense, the Ourense Economic Development Institute (INORDE), Coperativas Orensanas Asociadas (COREN) and Ecolagunas, SL, in the Regenera Limia Project.

All parties are part of the partnership of the “Life Regenera Limia” Project, approved by the European Commission, DG Environment, within the framework of the 2013 LIFE + program.

The main objective of the projects is to demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the implementation of a set of innovative measures both preventive and regeneration of the water masses of A Limia (Ourense), a fluvial system highly modified by the high concentration of agriculture.

The project, in particular, will implement a set of demonstration techniques to reduce the presence of nutrients, mainly of agricultural origin, in the water masses of the Region of A Limia, which will contribute to the fulfillment of the environmental objectives that establishes the Water Framework Directive.

The total cost of the project is 1,717,483 euros, of which 50% will be subsidized by the European Union and the other 50% by the Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation.
